As for the CA Final exams, Group 1 will be conducted on May 2, 4, and 6, and Group 2 on May 8, 10, and 12.
2. In order to align with international education standards and the National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP), ICAI has developed a new scheme of education and training. This scheme has been carefully crafted after taking into account the valuable inputs from various stakeholders. It was officially notified in the Gazette of India on June 22, 2023, and was launched on July 1, 2023. This year, ICAI will be conducting the first set of Foundation, Intermediate, and Final examinations under this new scheme.
According to the details provided on the ICAI’s official website, the New Scheme of Education and Training has been carefully crafted to develop professionals who are prepared to excel on a global scale. This curriculum aims to equip aspiring Chartered Accountants with the necessary skills and competencies required in today’s dynamic business environment. The course will incorporate advanced learning techniques, comprehensive skill evaluations, and practical training that is both effective and focused. Additionally, it will provide industry exposure and encourage a multi-disciplinary approach to learning, ensuring that students are well-rounded and adaptable to various professional challenges.
The New Scheme incorporates several special features aimed at enhancing the professional competence of aspiring Chartered Accountants. One of these features is the implementation of seamless and focused practical training for a duration of two years. This training period, which is examination-free, can be conducted for a period of 9 to 12 months or can be opted for in the final leg of the practical training period.
Another significant feature of the New Scheme is the utilization of technology-enabled learning through self-paced online modules. These modules provide aspiring Chartered Accountants with the necessary industry orientation, allowing them to acquire knowledge and skills at their own pace.
The New Scheme also includes a mandatory paper on multi-disciplinary case study with strategic management at the final level. This paper assesses the integrated application of professional knowledge in different subject areas, as well as the skills acquired during practical training. It is an open book and case study-based examination, designed to evaluate the higher order thinking skills and overall professional competence of aspiring Chartered Accountants.
In order to further develop the analytical skills of aspiring Chartered Accountants, assessment is conducted through case scenario/study based multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for 30 marks in every subject at the Intermediate and Final levels. This approach aims to sharpen the analytical abilities of individuals pursuing a career in Chartered Accountancy.
The curriculum at the Final level is designed to integrate education in ethics and information technology by incorporating essential subjects that are directly related to these fields.
