Two local militants of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (Let) were killed by security forces in South Kashmir, Army said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The Indian Army and Police launched a joint operation based on intelligence input about the presence of militants at Alishahpur, Shopian, during the intervening night of October 9 and October 10.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo LeT militants were killed in Shopian,\u201d Army\u2019s Srinagar-based strategic Chinar Corps said in a statement here.<\/p>\n
The security forces cordoned off the area to conduct a search operation<\/p>\n
The slain militants have been identified as Morifat Maqbool and Jazim Farooq, both affiliated with the LeT.<\/p>\n
The Army said Farooq alias Abrar was involved in killing of Sanjay Sharma a Kashmiri Pandit in Pulwama on February 26. Two AK Series rifles, one pistol and other war like stores have been recovered, it said.<\/p>\n
The Army said the incident has brought to fore the nefarious designs of Pakistan in supporting terrorists and trying to disrupt peace and development in Kashmir.<\/p>\n
