Devbhumi Dwarka, February 25(PRESS KI TAQUAT BUREAU):\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Sudarshan Setu’, the country’s longest cable-stayed bridge spanning 2.32 km over the Arabian Sea, linking Beyt Dwarka island to mainland Okha in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district.<\/p>\n

The day commenced with Modi offering prayers at the Lord Sri Krishna temple on Beyt Dwarka, followed by the unveiling of the four-lane ‘Sudarshan Setu’ bridge, featuring a unique design with footpaths adorned with verses from Srimad Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna.<\/p>\n

The bridge, costing Rs 979 crore, consists of a 900-meter central double span cable-stayed portion and a 2.45-km approach road, with a width of 27.20 meters and 2.5-meter-wide footpaths on each sid.<\/p>\n

Originally known as the ‘Signature Bridge’, the structure has been renamed ‘Sudarshan Setu’ or Sudarshan Bridge, connecting Beyt Dwarka, an island near Okha port, to the mainland, situated approximately 30 km from Dwarka town, home to the famous Dwarkadhish temple of Lord Krishna.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
