After months of anticipation, Mammootty’s next collaboration with director Nithish Sahadev has officially gone on floors. The film was launched with a traditional pooja ceremony in Kochi on Thursday, marking the beginning of production for one of Malayalam cinema’s most eagerly awaited projects. The film is being produced under the banner of Mammootty Kampany, with Jimshi Khalid serving as cinematographer.<\/p>\n
The project was first announced in February 2025 but has taken its time reaching the production stage. Now that cameras have finally started rolling, excitement is building around what promises to be a commercial entertainer featuring Mammootty in a role unlike his recent outings.<\/p>\n
The screenplay has been co-written by Nithish Sahadev and Anuraj OB, who previously penned Antony Varghese’s 2022 film Oh Meri Laila. While the makers are yet to reveal details about the supporting cast or release plans, the film’s premise has already generated considerable curiosity.<\/p>\n
In an earlier conversation with us, Nithish described the project as an action entertainer centred on a local gangster. He also revealed that Mammootty will be attempting the distinctive Malayalam spoken in the Marthandam and Nagercoil region, an aspect expected to lend greater authenticity to the character.
