Patiala, 2 August (Press ki taquat bureau):Â Â The BJP Punjab Mahila Morcha led by President Jai Inder Kaur today strongly condemned the decision of the AAP government to discontinue the free bus service for women in Punjab, terming the move as a clear betrayal of the trust of women who have been benefiting from this scheme.
Jai Inder Kaur, President, BJP Punjab Mahila Morcha, said, “The free bus service was the flagship scheme of Captain Amarinder Singh ji, which has massively benefited the women of Punjab. It was a revolutionary step towards empowering women and making them self-sufficient. By withdrawing this service, the AAP government is pushing women back into the dark ages.”
“The AAP government’s excuse of financial constraints is unacceptable. Instead of wasting ₹700 crores every year on fake publicity and propaganda, CM Bhagwant Mann should allocate these funds for the welfare of women and the needy. We demand that the government reconsider its decision and continue the free bus service for women,” she added.
“This scheme has been a lifeline for thousands of women who rely on public transport for their daily needs. Its withdrawal will disproportionately affect rural women, students, and working-class women who cannot afford private transportation. The AAP government’s priorities are clear – they care more about their image than the welfare of the people. We will not let them get away with this. The BJP Punjab Mahila Morcha will organize protests and rallies across the state to oppose this decision and fight for the rights of women,” she further stated.
