India defeated South Africa by seven wickets to level the two-match series 1-1 on the second day of the second and final Test here today. South Africa defeated India by an innings and 32 runs on the third day of the first Test. South Africa, who were bowled out for 55 runs in the first innings of the second Test, scored 176 runs in the second innings and gave India a target of 79 runs for victory. India won by scoring 80 runs for three wickets in 12 overs in five sessions. The Indian team was bowled out for 153 runs in the first innings. Earlier, with the help of 6 wickets from Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, the South African team was bowled out for 176 runs in the second innings till lunch on the second day today and India needed 79 runs to win. Mukesh Kumar took two wickets, while Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took one wicket each. South Africa started the morning at 62 for three, with Markram on 36. Markram completed his century in 99 balls with 16 fours and two sixes.
