New delhi, 24 February (press ki taquat bureau): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 11 grain storage godowns in primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) across 11 states as part of the government’s ‘World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan’ in the cooperative sector. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for 500 PACS across the country for the construction of godowns and other agricultural infrastructure. Furthermore, Modi inaugurated a project to computerize 18,000 PACS nationwide. These initiatives aim to integrate PACS godowns with the food grain supply chain, with the support of NABARD and spearheaded by the NCDC.
During his address, the prime minister emphasized the importance of the cooperative sector in building a resilient economy and driving rural development. He highlighted the launch of the world’s largest storage scheme for farmers, which will involve the construction of numerous warehouses and godowns across the country. Modi also called upon the cooperative sector to assist India in reducing its reliance on imported agricultural products, such as edible oils and fertilizers.
