Chandigarh, March 16 (Press Ki Taquat)- A meeting on Tricity Comprehensive Mobility Plan was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Mr. Banwarilal Purohit today. Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal also attended the meeting. Cabinet Minister from Punjab, Sushri Anmol Gagan Mann also attended the meeting. The meeting discussed in detail the traffic arrangements in Panchkula, Chandigarh and Mohali (Tri-City) and the metro project in all the three cities. Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal suggested in the meeting that Zirakpur should be connected to Pinjore-Kalka through Metro, so that the citizens coming to Chandigarh get better transport facilities. Apart from this, connecting Chandigarh to Pinjore-Kalka should also be considered. He said that the areas of Ghaggar river and new Panchkula should also be included in the expansion of Metro. For this, all these routes should be included in the first phase of the Metro. Mr. Manohar Lal said that the movement of citizens is more at important places like Punjab, Haryana Civil Secretariat, Assembly, Punjab and Haryana High Court, PGI and Airport. If these places are also connected with Metro, then the common people will get great relief from traffic jam and their time and money will also be saved. That’s why these main places should be connected in the first phase itself. He said that the main objective of the metro project is to improve and facilitate the connectivity of the airport for Panchkula residents as well as strengthen the public transport system in the tricity. For this, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh have to move ahead with full coordination by establishing coordination. Chandigarh Mayor Mr. Anoop Gupta, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of Haryana Mr. DS Dhesi, Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal and Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Local Bodies Department Mr. Arun Gupta along with administrative officers of Punjab and Chandigarh were present in the meeting.
