PUNJAB GOVERNMENT, LED BY CHIEF MINISTER BHAGWANT SINGH MANN, IS COMMITTED TO SAFEGUARDING INTERESTS OF SCHEDULED CASTES, AS STATED

As the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, continues its efforts to protect the interests of various sections of the state, it is also actively working to safeguard the interests of the Scheduled Castes. In a recent development, the state-level scrutiny committee has rejected the Schedule Caste certificate of Lakhveer Kaur wife of Gurmeet Singh, after it was found to be incorrect. Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur disclosed this information.
Providing further details, Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur explained that Kuldeep Singh, son of Bant Singh and a resident of District Ludhiana filed a complaint with the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission. The complaint alleged that Lakhveer Kaur had presented a fake Schedule Caste certificate, while actually belonging to the Chimba caste, covered under the BC category.
The Minister also stated that after a thorough investigation by the State Level Scrutiny Committee, it was discovered that Lakhveer Kaur’s husband belonged to the Scheduled Caste, resulting in the Schedule Caste certificate being issued in his name. Consequently, following government directives, she is not eligible for the Schedule Caste certificate, and the state-level scrutiny committee has decided to cancel it.
The Minister mentioned that the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana has been instructed to cancel and confiscate Scheduled Caste Certificate No. 1763 dated 17.08.1994, belonging to Lakhveer Kaur, Junior Scale Stenographer at Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic College, Ludhiana.
