Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, is set to present the interim budget ahead of the Lok Sabha elections later this year. This will mark her sixth budget as the Finance Minister and her final one in the second term of the Modi government. The interim budget aims to address the financial requirements during the transitional period until a new government is formed after the Lok Sabha elections. Following this, a comprehensive budget will be presented by the newly elected government. Over the past five years, the BSE Sensex has shown positive returns to investors on four occasions on the Budget day, with the benchmark index experiencing a significant 5% surge in the closing trade in 2021.
