NEW DELHI, JANUARY 27, 2024 (press ki taquat bureau):
Haryana Congress MLA Neeraj Sharma was prevented from participating in a Republic Day event in Faridabad. The reason behind this was the kurta he was wearing, which had slogans related to public issues printed on it. When the MLA attempted to enter the venue, the police stopped him at the gate. The MLA himself shared a video of this incident on social media platform X, along with a caption stating that a legislator was not allowed to hoist the Indian flag on the occasion of Republic Day.
Neeraj Sharma expressed on social media platform X, “I am not allowed to celebrate Republic Day on 26th January. I am a legislator and a legislator is not allowed to hoist the flag of India. This is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. Are we truly free?”
After the incident in Faridabad, the MLA Sharma arrived at a government event organized on the occasion of Republic Day in Panipat. However, he was not allowed inside and was taken into custody by the police. Later, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda reached Panipat Rest House and got him released from custody. Bhupinder Singh Hooda later posted a video of the MLA on social media platform X, stating, “Congress MLA Neeraj Sharma of NIT Faridabad was not allowed to participate in the government-invited program of the national festival Republic Day and was illegally detained at the behest of the government.”
