Chandigarh, August 3 (Press ki taquat bureau): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s plans to travel to Paris from August 3 to 9 to support the hockey team in the Olympics have been thwarted by the Ministry of External Affairs, as confirmed by the Chief Minister’s Office. Mann expressed his disappointment, stating that he was willing to fund the trip himself to cheer on the 10 Punjab players in the hockey team, who had made history by defeating Australia in the Olympics after 52 years.
Mann also highlighted previous instances where the BJP-led government had denied permission for AAP leaders, such as Arvind Kejriwal and Gopal Rai, to travel abroad. He questioned whether the government’s intention was to force them to seek legal recourse for every travel request.
While the Ministry of External Affairs did not provide a specific reason for the denial, sources in Chandigarh suggested that it may be due to Mann’s Z plus security status, which raised concerns about his safety.
