Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi, a Congress leader, has expressed his concern over the potential split in the Shiromani Akali Dal. He emphasized the importance of regional parties and their strength, stating that they have specific agendas for their respective regions. Highlighting the significance of the Akali Dal for Punjab, he warned that its extinction would be unfortunate for the state. Dr. Gandhi criticized the party for being run as a family, neglecting the interests of Punjab. He also mentioned the unconditional agreement between the Akali Dal and the BJP, which has helped the BJP establish its presence in Punjab. Additionally, he pointed out that the Akali Dal has been associated with incidents of blasphemy and drug-related issues, contributing to its current state.
