Sumit Joshi : Renowned Turkish singer Volkan Konak has passed away after collapsing during a concert performance in Cyprus. The Mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavaş, paid tribute to Konak, calling him the ‘Son of the North’ in a heartfelt message on social media.
“Son of the North, Volkan Konak, has passed away… His powerful voice that shook our hearts, his songs that carried the rebellious wind of the Black Sea, will now live on in our memories. He was not just an artist; he was always the voice, heart, and friend of these lands. May God have mercy on him, and I offer my condolences to all his loved ones. We will never forget you…” Yavaş wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Konak collapsed suddenly during his performance, prompting immediate medical intervention. First aid was administered at the concert venue before he was transported to Famagusta State Hospital at approximately 12:17 AM. Despite extensive efforts by medical teams, he was pronounced dead at 12:42 AM, according to Kıbrıs Genç TV.
The hospital later released a statement detailing the attempts to save him: “On March 30, 2025, at around 11:23 PM, our 112 emergency health team arrived at the hotel where the artist was performing. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) was applied for approximately 40 minutes by doctors at the concert area and the 112 team. He was then intubated and transferred to our hospital at 12:10 AM.”
“The artist arrived at our hospital as an ‘Ex enrollment’ at 12:17 AM and was immediately taken to the CPR room. A team of specialists, including an anesthesiologist, emergency room physicians, internal medicine, and cardiology experts, provided advanced life support for 25 minutes. However, despite all medical interventions, no response was received. Volkan Konak lost his life at 12:42 AM, and CPR was terminated.”
The hospital extended condolences, stating, “We wish God’s mercy upon the late Volkan Konak and offer our sympathies to his family, relatives, and loved ones.”
