Shambhu (Patiala), May 22 (Press Ki Taquat Bureau):  Farmers hailing from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, western UP, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan are currently converging at the Shambhu border in preparation for the commemoration of the 100th day of their ongoing protest tomorrow. The farmers have been arriving at the protest location since the early hours of the morning. While a large pandal has been established at the central protest area, numerous smaller tents have also been set up in the vicinity.

In discussions regarding the strategy for the upcoming Wednesday, Amarjeet Singh Mohri, the president of BKU (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) in Haryana, and Jaat leader Ashok Bulara emphasized key demands such as the legal recognition of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and its calculation based on Dr. Swaminathan’s formula C2 plus 50 percent, complete debt forgiveness for farmers and agricultural workers, a monthly social security provision of Rs 10,000, justice for the farmers of Lakhimpur Kheri, and a government-funded crop insurance scheme.

The protest site’s pandal has transformed into a gathering spot reminiscent of Pind Di Satth, a common meeting place in rural villages where discussions take place. Despite the scorching temperature of around 45 degrees Celsius and the issuance of a severe heatwave warning by the Meteorological Department, farm leaders anticipate a turnout of approximately 40,000 farmers at the site. The Punjab Police have also established checkpoints to ensure smooth traffic flow in the area.
