Commuters utilizing the Chandigarh-Delhi National Highway through Ambala may encounter significant traffic disruptions, as the farmer organization Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has declared a four-hour blockade of the highway on Friday, commencing at 11 am. This action is a response to what they describe as the “slow pace” of paddy procurement in Punjab. Specifically, the Ambala-Chandigarh Highway will be obstructed from 11 am to 3 pm in the vicinity of Lalru, according to a statement made by a farmer activist on Friday. Farmers have expressed their grievances towards both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab and the BJP-led Union government, accusing them of exacerbating the agrarian crisis in the state by delaying the procurement process for paddy.
