The case concerning the re-imposition of the National Security Act (NSA) against Amritpal Singh, a member of Parliament from Khadoor Sahib, and his associate, film actor Daljeet Kalsi, was heard today (Wednesday) in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
During the proceedings, the court inquired from the Punjab and central governments, as well as from the Dibrugarh jail, regarding the basis on which the duration of the NSA against both accused was extended. The court mandated that all relevant records be presented at the next hearing, which is scheduled for October 3.
It is noteworthy that Amritpal Singh and Daljeet Singh Kalsi are currently incarcerated in Dibrugarh jail. A petition has been filed on their behalf, asserting that the reapplication of the NSA against them is unjust. They have described the actions taken against them as unconstitutional, having been separated from their state, relatives, and the public for over a year and a half, impacting their lives and freedom.
