02 Dec 2024 (Press Ki Taquat Bureau): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to address the Lok Sabha regarding the “recent developments in India-China relations,” marking the first official statement since the two nations reached an agreement to resolve a prolonged border standoff that originated from the Galwan clashes in 2020. This announcement follows Jaishankar’s recent meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia, where they deliberated on the disengagement process along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), an area that has seen troop buildups and infrastructure developments from both sides post-clashes. Prior to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping engaged in a bilateral meeting in Kazan, instructing their respective officials to expedite the disengagement process. Consequently, the military forces of both countries have initiated disengagement efforts, starting with the contentious areas of Depsang and Demchok.
