Chandigarh, March 5 (press ki taquat bureau): Prior to the third day of the budget session in the Punjab Assembly, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa and state party chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his disruptive conduct during the previous day’s session.
Bajwa and other Congress MLAs staged a protest at the entrance of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha against the CM’s remarks towards a Dalit party MLA Sukhwinder Kotli. The Congress accused CM Mann of working against the interests of Punjab under the influence of the BJP-led NDA government. During the second day of the budget session, the Opposition MLAs fell into the trap set by the treasury benches as the day’s proceedings began with a debate on the Governor’s Address instead of the usual Question Hour.
This led to unruly scenes in the House when CM Mann engaged in a heated argument with Bajwa and other Congress MLAs. The CM further provoked the Congress by presenting a padlock to the Speaker, symbolizing his intention to prevent the Opposition from escaping the debate. The Congress, led by CLP Leader Partap Bajwa, accused the CM of diverting attention from the real issues through theatrics and displaying unconstitutional behavior, thereby mocking the House.
