New Delhi, July 26 (press ki taquat bureau): The recent addition of Satnam Singh Sandhu to the BJP’s ranks in the Rajya Sabha has increased the party’s strength in the upper house to a total of 87 members. This development was officially confirmed in the Rajya Sabha bulletin released on Thursday evening, solidifying Sandhu’s affiliation with the BJP within the House.
According to the bulletin, Sandhu formally joined the BJP on July 22, well within the six-month timeframe from his oath-taking ceremony on January 31. As a result, he is now recognized as a member of the BJP in accordance with the provisions outlined in the Tenth Schedule to the Constitution.
With Sandhu’s entry into the BJP, the party’s representation in the Rajya Sabha has seen a notable increase. However, despite this boost in numbers, the BJP still falls short of a majority in the upper house. As a result, the party may need to seek external support in order to successfully pass any significant legislation or bills in the future.
