In November, a tragic total of at least 245 individuals lost their lives due to a series of terrorist attacks and confrontations throughout Pakistan, as reported by Dawn, referencing findings from the Islamabad-based Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). Among the deceased were 68 security personnel, 127 terrorists, and 50 civilians. This month was noted as the second most lethal of the year, following August, which recorded 254 fatalities, including 92 civilians, 108 militants, and 54 security forces. November also marked the highest number of security personnel casualties for 2024, exceeding the 62 deaths reported in October. Furthermore, clashes and bombings resulted in injuries to 257 individuals, comprising 104 security personnel and 119 civilians, highlighting a concerning rise in terrorist activities across the nation in recent years.
The report indicated a notable increase in militant operations, with 71 attacks documented in November, up from 68 in October. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emerged as the most affected area, experiencing 50 terrorist incidents that led to 71 deaths and 85 injuries. The Kurram district was particularly impacted, witnessing one of the most severe tribal conflicts in recent memory, resulting in over 120 fatalities. Additionally, Balochistan faced 20 terrorist attacks, which accounted for 60 deaths, including 26 security personnel, 25 civilians, and nine terrorists. The 127 terrorist deaths in November represented the highest monthly toll since February 2017, when 148 terrorists were killed. The losses for Pakistani security forces were significant, with 68 personnel killed, marking the highest toll since January 2023, when 114 security members perished. The data further revealed that terrorist-related fatalities in 2024 have exceeded 1,000, totaling 1,082 in the first 11 months, alongside 856 reported terrorist attacks this year.
