Chandigarh, August 16 (Press ki taquat bureau): The Election Commission of India has called a press conference to unveil the timeline for the upcoming general elections to the legislative assemblies, sparking new rumors about the possibility of early elections in Haryana. However, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has firmly dismissed these speculations. During a morning press conference, Saini reiterated that the Assembly elections will proceed as planned, even though there are hints that the election announcement could come today. The main focus of the press conference was to discuss a “speedy compensation” plan, offering farmers Rs 2,000 per acre as a bonus to help offset rising input costs caused by bad weather, along with the release of the first installment of Rs 525 crore. Earlier this week, a team from the Election Commission visited Haryana to meet with senior officials and evaluate the state’s readiness for the elections. Interestingly, on August 13, just a day after the ECI meeting, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the chief of Sirsa Dera, was granted a 21-day furlough.
