Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, participated in a cycling rally alongside members of the Indian diaspora in Glasgow, Scotland. Organized under the “Cheer for Bharat” initiative, the event aimed to promote fitness, healthy living, and community engagement ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2026, which is being held in the city. The rally was designed to motivate the Indian sports contingent while reaffirming the participants’ commitment to daily physical activity.
The gathering served as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to encourage active lifestyles and strengthen connections with the diaspora through sports. Interacting with the participants, Dr. Mandaviya praised their dedication to the ideals of the Fit India Movement.

“Indian athletes have travelled to Glasgow to represent the nation at the Commonwealth Games 2026, and it was encouraging to see members of the Indian diaspora come together under the ‘Cheer for Bharat’ initiative to support the Indian contingent,” He added that the rally “conveyed a strong global message that fitness is essential for every individual and every society,” Mandaviya said.

Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the Fit India Movement, the Union Minister noted that the active involvement of the diaspora “reflected their continued connection with the movement and their commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles across the world.”
