Hisar, May 5 (Press ki taquat bureau): The BJP’s attempt to criticize the Congress for its alleged dynastic politics has backfired in Haryana, with five out of the party’s ten candidates in the state having strong family ties to former political figures, highlighting a clear case of nepotism within the BJP itself.
Notably, the BJP’s candidate in Hisar, Ranjit Singh, is the son of former Deputy PM Devi Lal, while in Ambala, the party has chosen Banto Kataria, the widow of former MP Rattan Lal Kataria, as its candidate.
In Kurukshetra, the BJP has fielded Naveen Jindal, the son of former MP and Haryana minister Om Prakash Jindal, and in Gurugram, Rao Inderjit Singh is following in the footsteps of his father Rao Birender Singh. Similarly, Ashok Tanwar, the candidate from Sirsa, is the son-in-law of former Congress leader Lalit Maken, who was also related to former President Shankar Dayal Sharma.
On the other hand, the Congress has three candidates with dynastic connections, including Deepender Hooda, son of former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, daughter of former MP Dalbir Singh, and Varun Mulana, son of former state Congress president Phool Chand Mulana.
Political analysts have pointed out that the BJP’s decision to field candidates with political backgrounds from other parties, such as the Congress, has undermined its previous stance against political dynasties. This move has raised questions about the party’s credibility and its ability to criticize rival parties for similar practices, ultimately diminishing its moral high ground in the political arena.
