Chandigarh, 9 march (press ki taquat bureau): The Excise Policy for 2024-25 has been approved by the Punjab Cabinet, aiming for an annual revenue of Rs 10,350 crore from liquor sales in the state.
The Council of Ministers, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, met today to give the green light to the policy, while extending the Labour Cartage and Transportation Policy for 2023-24 until July 2024, with plans to introduce and approve the new policy then.
Finance Minister Harpal Cheema announced that the Council has also approved the establishment of two special courts in Tarn Taran and Sangrur to handle POCSO cases, along with the regularization of 3,842 lower court employees’ posts in the state.
Additionally, 1,300 doctor positions have been created to enhance healthcare services at Mohalla clinics and Primary Health Centres, with recruitment to be managed by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences.
