Hisar, March 8 (press ki taquat bureau): The police intervention, activists of Pagri Sambhal Jatta Kisan Sangharsh Samiti initiated a dharna at the Landhri toll plaza on the Hisar-Sirsa highway after being prevented from proceeding towards Delhi on foot. A meeting is scheduled at the toll plaza tomorrow, expected to be attended by leaders of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and khap panchayats.
Initially, the activists embarked on a padyatra from various villages in Adampur and Agroha areas to converge at the Krantimaan park in Hisar. However, they were halted by the police near the toll plaza, close to Dhandur village, approximately 16 km from Hisar, with some walking and others in vehicles.
Despite attempts to engage in dialogue with the police, tensions arose as the farmers sought to proceed to Delhi. Subsequently, six-seven activists were detained and later released after a few hours. The activists then staged a dharna along the highway without causing a road blockade.
Mandeep Nathwan, the president of the samiti, leading the march, mentioned their compliance with the Chief Minister’s directives by opting for a foot-march to Delhi instead of using tractors. However, they were prevented from reaching Hisar town by the authorities.
