Haryana’s 10 Lok Sabha seats are expected to have a total of 1,97,25,257 voters, marking a significant rise of 67,023 voters in 2023 compared to the previous year. The electorate count in 2022 stood at 1,96,58,234, indicating a noticeable increase in the number of individuals exercising their right to vote in the region.According to data compiled by the state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the Gurugram Lok Sabha constituency has the highest number of voters in the state, with a total of 24.94 lakh voters. On the other hand, the Sonepat parliamentary segment has the lowest number of voters in the state, with a total of 17.37 lakh voters. Interestingly, within the Gurugram district, the Badshahpur Assembly segment has the highest number of voters for any Assembly constituency, with a total of 4.62 lakh voters. In the National Capital Region (NCR), Faridabad ranks second in terms of voters’ enrolment, with 23.54 lakh voters. Karnal, the city of the Chief Minister, holds the third position in the state with 20.73 lakh electorate.
In terms of voter population, Ambala holds the fourth position with a staggering 19.71 lakh voters, closely followed by Sirsa with a total of 19.2 lakh voters. Rohtak secures the next spot with 18.63 lakh voters, while Kurukshetra boasts 17.75 lakh voters. The Bhiwani-Mahendragarh parliamentary constituency has a significant count of 17.7 lakh voters, and Hisar rounds off the list with 17.63 lakh voters. Hemant Kumar, an advocate of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, has predicted that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in April/May 2024 will witness a rise in the overall electorate. This is due to recent amendments in the Elections Laws (Amendment), Act, 2021, and Representation of the People’s Act, 1950, which permit the enrollment of new voters who turn 18 years old on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 of each year. With the inclusion of these new voters who will reach the age of 18 on April 1, 2024, the total electorate in Haryana is expected to increase.
