The political atmosphere in the Jalandhar West Vidhan Sabha constituency is intensifying as the by-election scheduled for July 10 approaches. The contest for this seat has become a matter of pride and prestige for the BJP, AAP, and Congress parties. While the outcome remains uncertain, with each party vying for victory, the competition is fierce. Notably, Sheetal Angural, who was elected as an MLA from Jalandhar West on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket in 2022, later switched allegiance to the BJP before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Following his resignation from the MLA post, the seat became vacant, leading to the upcoming by-election. The current contenders for this seat include Sheetal Angural from BJP, Mahendra Bhagat from Aam Aadmi Party, and Surinder Kaur from Congress, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral battle in Jalandhar West.
