**Police Teams Take Preventive Action Against 209 Persons**

**Chandigarh, July 30**
On the 191st day of the ongoing statewide campaign “Gangster-an Te Vaar” (War on Gangsters), the Punjab Police today conducted raids on 611 identified and mapped hideouts of gangsters’ associates across the state.
It is worth noting that “Gangster-an Te Vaar”—a decisive war to make Punjab a gangster-free state—was launched on January 20, 2026, by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav. In coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, police teams from all districts are conducting special operations state-wide.
On the 191st day, police teams arrested 310 individuals along with 12 weapons, bringing the total number of arrests since the start of the campaign to 54,514.
In addition, preventive action was taken against 209 persons. Police teams also arrested 5 proclaimed offenders during the operation.
Members of the public can confidentially report wanted criminals and gangsters, as well as provide tips regarding crime and criminal activities, through the Anti-Gangster Helpline Number 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, continuing their campaign “War Against Drugs” on its 516th day, police teams arrested 101 drug smugglers today and recovered 1.1 kg heroin, 900 grams opium, 1,747 intoxicant tablets, and ₹1,300 in drug money from their possession. With this, the total number of drug smugglers arrested in just 515 days has reached 74,995. As part of the drug de-addiction drive, Punjab Police today persuaded 16 individuals to undergo treatment for drug de-addiction and rehabilitation.
