Chandigarh, September 1 (Press ki taquat bureau): The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has announced Arjun Chautala, the son of prominent party figure Abhay Chautala and the grandson of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, as its candidate for the Rania constituency in Sirsa district. This development sets the stage for a significant electoral contest between two prominent members of the Devi Lal family. Arjun will be facing off against his granduncle, Ranjit Singh, who serves as the Haryana Minister for Energy and Jails and is the brother of Om Prakash Chautala. Ranjit Singh, having aligned himself with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prior to the Lok Sabha elections, has made it clear that he intends to run for the Rania seat, regardless of his affiliation with the BJP. Arjun’s candidacy was included in the INLD’s second list of seven candidates released today, contributing to the INLD-BSP alliance’s total of 14 declared candidates, while other political parties, including the Congress and the BJP, have yet to announce their respective candidates for the upcoming elections.
