A court here has directed AAP leader Sanjay Singh to pay one lakh rupees to former Uttar Pradesh minister Mahendra Singh in a defamation case. Civil Judge (Senior Division) Kamala Kant Gupta directed the Rajya Sabha member of AAP to pay this amount within two months, otherwise six percent interest will have to be paid on the amount later. The court had issued a notice to Sanjay Singh but he had not given any response after which this action has been taken. It may be mentioned that the AAP leader had accused the then Jal Shakti Minister Mahendra Singh of involvement in corruption in the Jal Jeevan Mission during a press conference in Lucknow on August 8, 2021. Mahendra Singh filed a defamation case against Sanjay Singh and demanded Rs 21 lakh.
