External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today discussed with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Kiev peace formula and advancing bilateral relations. A few days after Jaishankar’s recent five-day visit to Russia, this conversation took place between the two leaders over the phone. During his visit to Russia, Jaishankar held extensive talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and also met President Vladimir Putin. The Foreign Minister said on ‘X’, “I had a very important conversation with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba today. There was a discussion about increasing our bilateral cooperation in the next year. There was a discussion about the ongoing war in Ukraine.” There, Kuleba said that he briefed his Indian counterpart about the ‘Peace Formula’ and Ukraine’s plan for a global peace summit of leaders. He said on ‘X’, “In 2024, I called the first phone Dr. S. Jaishankar and discussed the relationship between Ukraine and India. I informed my counterpart about the increase in Russian terrorist activities in Ukraine and the large-scale airstrikes.
