Delhi, 22 march (Press ki taquat bureau): Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on 21 March in connection with a money laundering case related to excise policy.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to consider a plea filed by Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the ED in the Delhi excise policy scandal at 10.30 am today. It is anticipated that the CM will be presented before a special PMLA court by the ED for further investigation.
Earlier on the same day, the Delhi High Court dismissed a petition seeking safeguard for Arvind Kejriwal from coercive measures in the money laundering case linked to excise policy. Arvind Kejriwal is the first incumbent chief minister to be detained.
Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate initiated searches at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence in Civil Lines. The Delhi Chief Minister had previously ignored around nine ED summons related to the money laundering case.
Commuters faced significant traffic congestion at ITO, Rajghat, and Vikas Marg due to road closures towards DDU Marg because of AAP’s protest.
