Chandigarh, May 1 (Press ki taquat bureau): In an effort to strengthen their position in the Sangrur seat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has welcomed former Dhuri Congress MLA Dalvir Singh Goldy into their party. Goldy, who had expressed his dissatisfaction with the Congress for not receiving a party ticket for himself or his wife in the Sangrur Lok Sabha poll, joined AAP today. While Goldy claimed that he joined AAP due to a lack of future prospects in the Congress, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, the Congress candidate from Sangrur, alleged that Goldy was compelled to join AAP after the Vigilance Bureau initiated investigations into cases of misappropriation of funds for gym construction during the previous Congress rule in Punjab. However, Chief Minister and AAP Punjab president Bhagwant Mann denied these allegations, stating that AAP does not accept individuals involved in corruption and that their stance on eradicating corruption is clear. Mann also referred to Goldy as his younger brother and a hardworking youth, emphasizing that AAP values the participation of youth in politics unlike the Congress, which tends to favor established political families. Goldy himself challenged Khaira, stating that he would publicly confront the Congress leader in Sangrur on Thursday.
