A young man has been apprehended by the police for sexually harassing a minor girl, having initially promised her assistance in finding employment. According to a police report filed by the teenager’s aunt, the family, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had traveled to Solan, Himachal Pradesh, to seek work. They were staying with the aunt’s brother while she searched for job opportunities. On April 4, as they were heading to her brother’s residence, they encountered a 23-year-old man from Bihar, who claimed to be a contractor offering jobs. He proposed a payment of Rs 10,000 for eight hours of work and deceitfully recorded the niece’s age as 19 on her Aadhaar card to mask her true age. The aunt later learned that the man had lured her niece to his home under the guise of employment. When she arrived at his residence to find her niece, she discovered that the girl had already reached out to the police. The victim recounted her experience, stating that the accused had taken her to his house with promises of a better job, where he allegedly assaulted her and issued threats to her life. After managing to escape, she sought help from a neighbor to contact the authorities. Sub Inspector Pradeep Kumar from the Madhawala police post responded promptly, accompanied by a crime scene team. A medical examination later confirmed the assault, and the victim was subsequently reunited with her family.
