New Delhi, BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri, who is running for election in Kalkaji, stirred up quite a bit of controversy on Sunday with his comments aimed at Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi. After facing significant backlash, Bidhuri later expressed regret for his remarks about Priyanka. While speaking at an event, he referenced a past statement by Lalu Yadav about making Bihar’s roads as smooth as Hema Malini’s cheeks, claiming that Yadav had failed to keep that promise. In a bid to draw a parallel, he assured the audience that just as they had improved the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, he would ensure that every road in Kalkaji would be as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks. This comment did not sit well with members of the Congress and AAP, who quickly condemned it. One Congress member took to X to express outrage, labeling the BJP as anti-women and calling Bidhuri’s remarks not only shameful but indicative of a troubling mindset, especially considering his previous behavior in Parliament where he had faced no repercussions for abusive language directed at a fellow MP.
