Congress MLA from Bhulath Sukhpal Singh Khaira has been arrested by the Kapurthala police in a separate case today after getting bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court in a case registered under the NDPS Act, 2015. A case has been registered against Khaira in Subhanpur police station here early today. The High Court had granted surety bail to Khaira in the NDPS case.
According to the information received, a case has been registered against Khaira and two other unidentified persons under Section 195 A and 506 of IPC in Subhanpur police station. The police produced Khaira in the court of Judicial Magistrate Supreet Kaur and demanded a 7-day remand, but the court has allowed one day of police custody. A case has been registered by the police on the complaint of Ranjit Kaur, wife of Kashmir Kaur, resident of Dogranwala village, Kapurthala. Her husband is a key witness in the 2015 case against Kashmir Singh Khaira.
