Chandigarh, April 20 (Press ki taquat bureau): Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar visited party leader Vijay Sampla, who was disappointed after being denied the party ticket for the Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Jakhar, along with party leaders Harjit Singh Grewal and Vineet Joshi, met Sampla at his residence in Hoshiarpur. Sampla, a former union minister, had expected the ticket but the BJP chose Anita Som Parkash, the wife of the current MP and Union Minister Som Parkash, for the constituency. After being denied the ticket, Sampla removed the ‘Modi Ka Parivaar’ tagline from his social media profile and expressed his belief that God must have a different path planned for him.
Sampla, a Dalit leader, had previously won the Hoshiarpur seat in 2014 and served as the minister of state for social justice and empowerment. In the 2019 elections, the BJP fielded Som Parkash for the seat. Sampla later served as the head of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes from 2021 to 2023.
